Off air route flight planning options

To help aircraft operators fly the most cost-effective, fuel-efficient, and timely routes, Airservices has significantly expanded access to User Preferred Routes (UPR) airspace and continues to seek improvements for our customers.

Following the cessation of AUSOTS (Australian Organised Track Structure) during the COVID-19 Pandemic, all Class A airspace has been declared UPR airspace, while time activated UPR Exclusion Zones have been established in high traffic density areas to ensure our Air Traffic Controllers can safely manage air traffic during peak times.

Aircraft must be appropriately equipped and have the necessary navigation approvals to operate on UPRs, whilst aircraft operators are responsible for planning UPRs in accordance with the ruleset contained in the Off Air Route Planning (OARP) Manual linked below. No pre-approval of UPRs from Airservices is necessary, just file and fly!

All UPR and OARP Manual enquiries can be addressed to OARP@AirservicesAustralia.com.
