Where we started
Strong foundations

Our cultural transformation builds on the work of Elizabeth Broderick & Co. (EB&Co). Their 2019 review and 2022 progress assessment provided critical insights into advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace. All EB&Co. recommendations have now been substantially addressed through strong leadership commitment, improved governance, and a data-driven approach. These strong foundations remain embedded in everything we do.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Airservices Australia is shaping a respectful, safe, inclusive and high-performing culture aligned with its target culture. Collaboration is fundamental to how we work together as ‘One Airservices’ to achieve the high standards and service excellence our customers deserve.

While we are on a multi-year improvement journey, there is clear commitment and momentum toward strengthening how our people work together across all areas. Great cultures don’t happen by accident; they’re built through shared purpose, everyday actions, and the voices of the people who make us who we are.

Airservices Australia launched the Culture Improvement Program in February 2025 to support organisational culture change. The program includes initiatives to foster a high-performing, safe and respectful culture, grounded in trust and in service of our people, customers and community.

Examples of initiatives include:

  • Enhancements to the role of the Culture Reform Board governance and membership
  • Investment in organisational capability through our Ability to Executive (A2E) program
  • Continued focus on uplifting leadership capability
  • Completion of an external and independent review of our Safe Place function to inform the design of our future service model
  • Implementation of role clarity cards to ensure our people are clear on their responsibilities and how their role aligns to our strategy
  • Launch of our digital platform ‘Culture Hub’ to provide greater clarity on our Culture Improvement Program, as well as opportunities to provide feedback
  • Relaunch of a comprehensive recognition program, fully aligned to our values and strategy
  • Rollout of our Bystander Training Program

Our people often choose to work at Airservices Australia because of our strong sense of purpose in delivering for the aviation industry. We’re looking for people who want to contribute to this purpose and are committed to shaping the culture we want as part of our Culture Improvement journey.

At Airservices Australia, we are committed to fostering a workplace that is diverse, equitable and inclusive – one that reflects the customers and communities we serve across Australia.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are integral to our Culture Improvement strategy.  For example, our Gender Equality Action Plan outlines specific initiatives to drive meaningful change for under-represented priority groups such as ARFFS, ATCs and Engineers. Our Women@Airservices Network group provides a platform for advocacy and connection. Our Reconciliation Action Plan represents our commitment to engaging proactively in the reconciliation journey as supported by our Reconciliation Working Group.
