Environment

Airservices is a provider of safe, environmentally responsible and efficient air traffic and related aviation services. Our Environment Strategy 2011-2016 outlines our commitment to improving our environmental sustainability while delivering better environmental outcomes for our customers and stakeholders. Our Environment Action Plan and Status Report is produced annually and designed to ensure the delivery of the Environment Strategy. It describes the key activities we undertake to ensure our environmental performance and meet government expectations.

Aviation is a contributor to greenhouse emissions. As the ongoing popularity of air travel for business and pleasure continues to grow, we are working with the aviation industry to create an environmentally sustainable future.

The Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency estimates that emissions from domestic aviation are approximately seven per cent of total transport emissions. Airservices is working in collaboration with regulatory authorities, airports and airlines to improve air traffic management and reduce emissions.
