The ICAO GNSS Panel has agreed to standardise GRAS. A subgroup, headed by Australia, is writing the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) for GRAS.

ICAO finally validated the GNSS SARPs for GPS and GLONASS in June 2000. These standards became official with an Applicability Date of 1 November 2001. Recent changes to the Standards to allow curved approaches were approved by the ICAO Council and become applicable on 1 November 2002.
