Instrument Landing System Replacement

Airservices began a major replacement, upgrade and refurbishment of Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) at major airports in 2007.

The project was a critical one to the ongoing safety of Australian aviation.

ILS technology at major capital city and regional airports allows safe landings to be effected in low visibility and difficult weather conditions.

After nearly two years of construction, the project was completed 18 months ahead of schedule and $1.3 million under budget.
