Graduate Program

What the Graduate Program is all about?

The Graduate Program commences with an intense induction course in Airservices Australia and its business followed by challenging on-the-job learning including projects, workshops, site visits, guest speakers and social events as you rotate throughout diverse areas of the organisation.

Induction

The induction program consists of:

  • Meet and greet with senior managers responsible for business units
  • Familiarisation visit to Canberra Tower, ARFF and TAS infrastructure
  • Familiarisation visit to Melbourne including air traffic control tower, fire station, learning academy and engineering facilities
  • Social events with the CEO, Executives and former graduates

Rotation

Over the next 12 months you will have an opportunity to work in a number of different areas around the organisation. These will largely be aligned to your academic background and expressed interests. However there may be an occasion where you are placed in an area to broaden your view of our operations.

Training/Development Seminars

Over the next twelve months you will have opportunities to attend training courses, to assist you in gaining a greater understanding of the organisation.

Informal Development

The main focus of the Graduate Program is to develop your skills through task driven development. In other words, we aim to give you challenging tasks that will promote learning and understanding. These tasks could range from researching a topic, developing ideas for a project or assisting an experienced person.

Often we can improve the way we work when we have a clear understanding of factors beyond our immediate work area. As graduates, you will be given the opportunity to develop a broader view of the relationships between each work area and develop a network of colleagues within Airservices Australia. This contextual awareness will assist you in developing your skills through your assigned tasks.
