Aircraft Noise

More information about WebTrak

Displaying of noise events
When the noise level exceeds a pre-set threshold level (60dBA-62dBA depending on the monitor) the monitor will start recording and saving the noise data.

If an aircraft appears to pass close to a monitor but does not display a noise reading, this may be due to a range of factors:

  • The noise data has not yet been downloaded from the monitor (try again in 24 hours),
  • The aircraft passed the monitor at a high altitude,
  • Severe weather conditions (such as high wind) reduced the noise at the monitor from the aircraft below the threshold or
  • The monitor could be offline for upgrades or maintenance during the over-flight (as the monitors are exposed to the weather, regular maintenance is required to keep them accurate).

Searching for a street address
WebTrak has a street search engine and can monitor the height and distance from the nominated address to the aircraft.

System and internet connection requirements
A broadband internet connection is recommended. You may experience a short delay when WebTrak is launched as a large amount of data is downloaded.

Web Accessibility
Due to the technology used to provide a geospatial representation of aircraft operations at airports, some components of WebTrak may not be fully accessible to people using screen readers etc.

Data Validation
Data captured by WebTrak undergoes a checking (verification) process, which in some cases, may result in a change to the data. The data verification is done daily. Be cautious when comparing data in current flights mode to replay mode. The data in replay mode will be more accurate.

Personal Information
WebTrak does not collect or store any personally identifiable information. Some information on site usage is stored. This may include internet protocol addresses, browser types, platforms and pages processes. This information is used to analyse and improve the performance of WebTrak.
