Airspace Management from Gate to Gate
Airspace Management from Gate to Gate is about developing alternative approaches to handling congestion and delays from before you leave home right up until your arrive at your destination.
The Concept
- You are in an aircraft waiting to land due to congestion at the airport
- You are waiting on the runway but can’t take off
- You are waiting in the lounge after rushing to check in
- You rushed to the airport but end up in queues.
But what if you knew of the delays before you left. You could wait safely on the ground or even possibly in your lounge room.
Congestion
This is the idea behind Gate to Gate management of aircraft. Managing aircraft from the point when passengers board the plane until they leave it again. Air travel works due to a complex interplay of local transport, airports, airlines and airspace management.
Delays and failures at any point in the system can cause congestion at other parts. While all parties strive to make our flying experience pleasant, safe and relaxing, it doesn’t always work out that way. It works out most of the time due to the high level of coordination and cooperation of all parties: airports, airlines and Air Traffic Management.
Gate to Gate Explained
With the popularity and rapid growth of air travel today, delays are occasionally inevitable but at least we can now wait in the comfort of the airport lounge and perhaps in the future in the comfort of our own home.
