Perth control tower is situated to the south/east of the intersecting runways, just behind the international terminal. The console faces to the north/west, overlooking the international terminal, the runways, the fire station and old control tower, to the domestic terminal and finally the coast.

View to the north is over residential and then semi-rural areas, past the beautiful Swan Valley region to Pearce RAAF base at 20 kms, while most residential areas run north/south along the coast, west of the tower. Perth city stands proud to the west, and from the tower you can see the lights of the WACA (West Australian Cricket Association) and the annual Australia Day fireworks display.

The view to the south is across more residential areas to Jandakot airport at 16 kms, and finally more residential areas to the east to Darling range. There are a number of regional and charter airlines based at Perth, as well as fire water-bombing aircraft during summer.

Ten international airlines as well as the domestic airlines service Perth Airport. Daily movements total 300 including charter, training and general aviation aircraft. Four fire water bombing aircraft are based here during the summer months with their operations demanding special priority.

Facilities

Perth Airport runways are 03/21 (3444M) and 06/24 (2163M). Runways 03,21 and 24 are served by ILSs. Runway 06 is served by non-precision approach using VOR/ DME.
