Brisbane Airport is situated at the mouth of the Brisbane River adjacent to the seaport. It is the largest capital city airport, covering 2600 hectares.
In 2003, aircraft movements average 390 per day. Eighteen international airlines operate through Brisbane Airport, but the majority of the traffic consists of RPT medium jets and turbo-props.
Facilities
Brisbane Airport has two runways --- 19/01 (3500M) and 14/32 (1700M). Category 1 ILS is installed on runways 19 and 01. RWY has non-precision approaches using VOR, DME or GPS. Due to the proximity of container cranes and two oil refineries, RWY 32 is for use in VMC only. The master plan provides for a 3000M runway to be built parallel to RWY 19/01.
