Australia's busiest airport in terms of annual aircraft movements, is situated 22kms south west of Sydney and 5kms west of Bankstown city centre. Bankstown airport was built in 1940.

Bankstown airport is predominantly used for private flying, flying training, aerial work, air charter and the sale, repair and maintenance of aircraft and includes 28 training schools, aircraft sales and historic and warbirds aircraft restoration.

Facilities

Bankstown Airport has three parallel runways in the 11/29 direction (11/29 centre 1415M) and one crossing runway 18/36 (800m). All runways are served by non-precision NDB, GPS or SY VOR/BK NDB approaches.
