Darwin opened its fire station in March 1999. The station was opened and dedicated to the memory of Graeme Smith (deceased), an ex-Fire Station Manager of Darwin. Darwin ARFF operates with a configuration of two fire vehicles. The airport is a joint RAAF and civil aviation airport.
