Air traffic controller awards

On 20 October each year, Airservices celebrates the International Day of the Air Traffic Controller and takes the opportunity to thank all controllers and operational staff for the continual commitment to the safe and efficient delivery of air traffic management services.

As part of the day’s celebrations, Airservices announced the recipients of a professional development opportunity to visit an overseas air navigation service provider. These people were recognised by their peers for going above and beyond in the professionalism of air traffic management.

David Horn, Karratha Tower

David has been instrumental in the re-establishment of services at Karratha Tower, especially in supporting staff during the transfer to the tower, training and ongoing operational support.

Mark Stevens, Gold Coast Tower

Mark has an enthusiasm to make a difference going above and beyond the call of duty in his role as check and standardisation supervisor, as well as assisting management in progressing initiatives at Gold Coast Tower.

Stephen Giles, Melbourne Centre

Stephen is seen by his peers as an inspiration and invaluable in the ongoing challenges inWestern Australia, going above and beyond in training, helping and mentoring trainees and being a constant source of knowledge and support.
